It's about WINE! Bar Artisanal, located at 268 W Broadway at 6th Avenue (near Canal St), has become one of my favorite wine bars in NYC. It is a vast, expansive space with high (triple-height) ceilings in the old "American Thread" buidling. While the majority of the room is devoted to tables, the real joy can be derived by sitting at the smallish semi-circular bar to pick & choose from the 50 to 60 wines poured by the glass or half glass (The half-glass format enables you to sample twice as many wines, without increasing the risk of being "over-served", unless you gain the momemtum that carries you past your "flight's" take-off point!). I should also mention that their half-glasses are minatures of the regular glasses so there is no guess-work on whether a proper half-glass was poured...

The friendly & attentive staff is very adept at describing the wines, and offers tastes to help you select your next pairing, lest you choose something that doesn't pair well with your focus.

There are a few different menus from which to choose tasting portions to pair with your "extended flight", as well as the famous Artisanal cheese counter where you can order-up custom flights of cheeses and charcuterie. THere are full menus for Lunch, brunch, dinner & Late Night, so you can plan to arrive at the best time that suits your mood.

Bar Artisanal is definitely a "Must Go" destination, and I am perhaps a bit reluctant to say so, if only because I don't want to get 'squeezed-out' if it becomes too popular!

Cheers!
Todd
